St. Patricks Day Tablescape

DSC01494

Hi Dolls!

I received such a great response on my last couple of tablescapes from Valentines Day and my farmhouse design a couple weeks ago, that I decided to share my latest one for St. Patricks Day! (Be sure to scroll to the bottom, to see the video of exactly how I made each crafty piece for my table) If you haven’t figured out by now, I love a good theme and I think that is why I am obsessed with all the different Holidays throughout the year! It gives me an excuse to create some sort of a theme and of course do what I love most….DESIGN and CREATE! Problem is sometimes St. Patricks day decor can be a little cheesy, so I did the best I could with the options available in stores. I also used flowers from my own garden and created some fun things with stuff I already had right inside my home.

My table from Z-Gallerie is the perfect neutral palette to change up the decor for any holiday (and quite frankly why I ended up buying it)  This is how a designer mind thinks, not about functionally first but about how I can decorate it, thankfully it turned out to be very functional as well.  My gorgeous Hurricane Candle holders are Ralph Lauren and you can find them here.DSC01495

My table inspiration came from this little hat decor I found at Michaels and it was 50% off!  I lined it with celaphane (so water didn’t leak through)  and then put a oasis ball in the middle in order to hold the flowers properly.  I then went out into my garden and cut the calla lily’s (love having those flowers in my garden) and strategically placed them in the oasis.  I then crunched up some brown paper and stuck it on top of the oasis ball (so it would be an even surface) to lay the green moss I found from Michaels on top of it (so it looked complete and full) Then I found some cute chocolate gold coins from Ralphs and placed it all around the hat and falling out over the top (like an overflowing pot of Gold, but its just a hat instead)  I had the sparkly clovers from a few years back and layed them around the hat to add some extra green and theme to the look.  Here’s another view from the top. DSC01485

I also cut some extra calla lily’s for the tall vase next to this hat just to change up the height of the different elements on my table.  Visually I think it is more stimulating like that, and then in the mason jar and the Coco Chanel Vase I added some green hydrangeas and them added some green food coloring to the vases to add some festive cheer to the table. It’s a fun way to change up the look of your flowers and also add to the theme. DSC01487

One of my favorite parts of this project was these little clay pots that I turned into these adorable little pots of gold. I got the inspiration from Pinterest. There is soo many great ideas on there. Here is what I did

  1. I spray painted the clay pots black
  2. Then I drew a 3 leave clover on it with a black sharpie
  3. Then I fill in the clover with elmers glue and a small paint brush, as well of around the top of the pot
  4. Then I sprinkled Martha Stuwart glitter all on the glue.
  5. Any left over I wiped up with a q-tip or a little larger brush and dusty away the glitter
  6. Then once dried I put gold rolo’s so the look like the are overflowing (like a pot of gold) Here is how the turned out! Check out the pics below

My Farmhouse Tablescape & Salmon Recipe

Tonight on my snapchat and Instastory I got so many questions about my posts regarding my table decor and the salmon dinner I prepared for Slade and myself!  So I have decided to make a whole blog post about it so you can have the deets first hand! You guys asked so I listened.

DSC01382

As many of you have come to know about me through my blog and social media I LOVE decorating. It is my favorite pastime  and I wish I could do it professionally (but I run two other companies and barely have time for that right now).  It brings me great joy and is a creative outlet for me. I love designing and creating new and beautiful things, so doing new tablescapes has become a new passion of mine recently especially because I love my new table from Z-Gallerie that you can find right here.  It is a neutral palette so you can change out the decor to anything you want.

DSC01429

The gorgeous gold  and glass hurricane candle holders are from Ralph Lauren a few years back and I got them from Barclay Butera, but you can still buy them here (but beware they are a little pricey) I also have them in the silver version in my master bedroom (check out that blog here) and they are a little less expensive in the silver finish.

I was going for a farmhouse feel for this tablescape. I got the inspiration from these leaves that I bought at the OC Flower mart and knew I wanted to have them lay all around on my table. I then went to Michaels craft store and found these super cute metal G and S letters to help make a statement on the table.   Here are a couple more close ups of the S and G below.

DSC01447DSC01390

I also got these gorgeous little votive’s from Michaels in both a peach and a turquoise light color finish (on the bottom half of the mason jar) to really help accent the table and set a warm inviting glow to the table. Here is a close up below

DSC01432DSC01441DSC01453

The vase that is holding the faux hydrangeas is from a store that unfortunately is no longer in business…but I see vases like this one all the time at TJ Maxx.  Or here is another place I found them on line  or it could work with just a beautiful white pitcher as well like this one here from Target.

DSC01429

Check out a close up of the leaves that I layed all down on the table, they have such a beautiful hue and really made the table feel lush and beautiful, and I love bringing elements from in outside in.

So I hope you enjoyed the details and inspiration of my latest tablescape! My hope is that it it inspires you for your own home.

Now onto the dinner I cooked tonight! The glazed salmon with cauliflower rice and broccoli with parsley was so delish!  All of you were dying over this recipe so I will share it with you here. All I did was replace the rice part of the recipe below with cauliflower rice which I bought at Costco. It is a delicious and healthy replacement for rice.  I also added parsley to my mixture to give it a little extra flavor and if you want to add a little crunch to your floret then add some shaved almonds to it….yummy!  I cooked the cauliflower rice in both butter and a drizzle of olive oil and then added in the broccoli once I cooked that in a little butter in a separate pan.

Once I was done I put Avocado’s on top of the salmon and some parsley on top to make it look pretty….. and here is how it turned out.  Wallah!  Slade said the flavors were amazing and one of the best meals I have ever cooked! So I would say this recipe is a keeper. It was fairly simple and beyond delish.   I also made some extra glaze and put it all over the salmon again and let it drip onto the cauliflower rice and it was sooooo good!

Alright well there you have it! Hope this helps you all get inspired to create a great meal and a fun tablescape for your own home.

My Valentines Day Tablescape

dsc00347

Hi Dolls!   As many of you already know one of my favorite things in the world to do is decorate! If I could be a full time interior decorator I would, but between running my fashion and beauty lines right now it is just something I don’t have time for …so doing these fun little projects in my spare time for our own home will have to do for now. This tablescape for Valentines Day has been one of my favorite ones yet.

img_5215

We renovated our home just recently and with that came all new furniture (yeppie)  My gorgeous table is from http://www.zgallerie.com …. its called the archer collection and we choose the bench, two side chairs and the banquette bench. I  love how this unique combination of seating just feels so fresh and new aside from your typical all chairs around the table.  What I also love about this table is that is it a neutral color so you can change the color palette for any holiday and it will work.

Here is how I went about decided how to create my tablescape. I pulled a few items I had laying around my house, for instance I had reminants of the black and white ribbon from Christmas (I wrapped gifts with it) and the blinged out face masks from Halloween. These items helped set my mood board for what I wanted to do for the look. I realized I wanted my table to be a little sexy, as well as fun, flirty and full of color.  Here was some of the pieces I pulled together to create my vision. img_5219

These fun little confetti hearts I just found at the grocery store in the Valentines section, but you could find something like this at Michaels craft store as well.  I had bought a boutique of gorgeous red flowers and some baby’s breath  and this is how my color palette came together. I decided to use the flowers not only for the middle of the table but also as decorations for each place setting, and then tied the black and white ribbon around each black napkin to add layers and texture to my tablescape.  I stuck the baby’s breath in the ribbon and added one rose to each napkin and it looked perfect.

dsc00359

I then addded a blinded out face mask to each setting as the party favor for my guests, which created fun conversation as well as a great parting gift.

dsc00393

The black and white ribbon and the sparkly gold branch behind the plate I got from  http://www.shinodadesigncenter.net over the holidays. Shinoda is one of my favorite go to design centers for all things fabulous. Seriously it is a designers dream and its like going into the biggest candy store in the world for anyone who loves to decorate. It has everything you could ever imagine available there. You do have to have a seller’s permit (thank goodness for my business Gretchen Christine) to purchase there, but it is well worth it because of the selection and wholesale price point.

The chargers I got from  Pier 1  and I have them in tons of different colors, silver, black, red, gold etc. so that I can use them for every time I change up my tablescape. I also found my  beautiful red plates a Pier 1 about a year ago but here are similar ones that would work great for your table.

My intricate wine glasses I actually found at TJ Maxx Home Goods (have I mentioned that is one of my favorite stores on the planet for home goods ) you can find so much without breaking the bank. The glasses are a mixture of both gold and silver, which I love for decorating because they go with almost everything I set my table with. I love it when I find great items at half the price of a department or brand name store. My motto has always been you don’t need to spend a fortune to make things look nice, and quite honestly it’s just smart to purchase things at half of the price if they look just as good. And besides that leaves more money in the bank to go more shoe shopping…lol. dsc00413

The black and white customized  G and S pillows were the perfect touch to my table and helped pull it all together.  As mentioned above part of my inspiration was the black and white ribbon I had left over from Christmas but by itself it just seemed a little random on my table, so when I pulled these black and white pillows into the mix it made the whole look come together. I got these gorgeous embroidered pillows from http://www.bombardierdesigns.com.au/ and I have just fallen in love with all of their products. Mention my name “Gretchen” when you email them to place an order and they will give you a discount! 🙌🏻 I also go this gorgeous candle below that was in the middle of the table from them as well. So shop your hearts out.

I hope you all have a wonderful Valentines Day full of love and happiness. Remember whether you are in love or not the most important thing is that you first love yourself …..and then all the other things will fall into place.

50 Shades of Pink and Red

unnamed-10

Thanks to everyone who posted such sweet comments on my social media pages about my look for our Girls Valentines Day at Dior in Beverly Hills.  My Dress is by an Australian Company called C/MEO Collective and unfortunately is sold out from what I can see, however  check out the other red options from this company right here…. or  click here for a version of my dress. Also here are some other great red options as well from Neiman Marcus

My shoes are by the one and only Alexander McQueen but I got them a few years back.  I love them because they are a classic shoe that I pull out every once in a while to really make an outfit pop.  The skull heads on the front of them is not typically something I would wear, but they are so much fun and so different then what I usually do, so its fun every once it a while to change it up. I kept my earrings simple and just did some gold drop earrings by  Chanel  to help pull the gold embellishments in from my shoes.

Here are some more fun pics from my Girls Day at Dior. Just love all these fabulous ladies.

Thank you to Dior of Beverly Hills for having into our beautiful boutique up in Beverly Hills and making our day so special. unnamed-6

Also to Sunset Plaza Florist for the gorgeous flowers

My Hair was done by the one and only Victor Paul from the Victor Paul Salon and because I wanted my hair back due to the big side flare on my dress we decided to go with this super cool poofy braid look. I just love this unique fun look by VP.  Give him a call for all your hair needs and styles http://www.victorpaulsalon.co

And of course to my beautiful girlfriend Jackie (pictured) and Jen for putting together such a fabulous day for us ladies…it was so special and just perfect. Jackie got her dress from Neiman Marcus so check out all the great looks you can find there for Valentines Day as well.

Great V-Day Gift Ideas

vday-blog-post

Hi dolls! I absolutely love putting together gift guides. They’re so fun and remind me of how many amazing things are out there and ready to be gifted! Valentine’s Day is less than a week away so I came up with a few gift ideas for your girlfriend, mother, wife sister, or any other special lady in your life. Be sure to share this post with your special someone so they know where to find these great items. Enjoy! – G

I always love a bold lip and what better time for a little  Dior Couture Color Rogue Lipstick for that sexy red pop! You will most definitely be getting that kiss 😉 If you are going for more of a natural blush and lip color Benefit Benetint Cheek & Lip Stain is my go to. Speaking of lips has anyone tried Sugarfina Hey Hot Lips Gummies they are so yummy and make a super cute gift.  Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Collection is one of my favorite perfumes and what is better than getting the whole collection from someone you love?! (check out how cute the packaging is too for V-Day)

I kind of have an obsession with fabulous phone cases so the  Kate Spade New York Scattered Hearts iphone Case is no exception! It’s covered in little red hearts, some of which are bedazzled-my favorite! Since we are talking about hearts and Valentine’s day is all about those, the Saint Laurent Small Kate-Heart Calfskin Leather Wallet on a chain is beyond perfect for anyone looking for a hip statement piece. The Valentino Love Blade Embroidered Calfskin Leather Shoulder Bag is another to die for bag with some of the most adorable embellishments if you are looking to splurge 🙂

Dresses are always my go to for a night out and the  Alice & Olivia Belva Dress with belt is a style that I have been dying to try. If you are doing something a little more casual for love day the Alexander Mcqueen Skull Print Silk Scarf in Lilac/Red is a perfect accessory. Lastly, the Classic II Boot-UGG Australia slippers are a gift that everyone deserves and are perfect to start any day and end any night.

Or check out adorable pillow  below from http://www.shopgretchenchristine.com to show your love one exactly how you feel about them.
