Home Tour of my Holiday Decor

Happy Holidays Everyone!

I am always getting asked about my Holiday decor and to post pics of my home. So I decided to do a blog about how I like to decorate for the holidays.  I actually have an entire storage unit for all my holiday decorations starting with Halloween, but this blog is all about Christmas.

DSC09121Of course you always want to make a good first impression when someone walks up to your home, so I always decorate my front porch with lighted garland and Christmas Bells and my front door with a beautiful wreath.  My color scheme for my entire house is Gold and Red.  The wreath I made with elements from Michaels.

Right as you walk into my house you see my staircase and so I always want to deck that out as well. This year I opted for elements from Shinoda Design Center  which is one of my favorite stores for amazing beautiful decor. It’s one of my go too secrets for fabulous designs, ribbon, candle holders, etc.  DSC09171

This year I choose a gorgeous red thick mesh like material to wrap all around my garland on my staircase. I wrap the staircase with the garland first and then the lights, and then I start to wrap and mold the mesh all around the garland. I went with a gorgeous and very sparkly gold net-like overlay on top of the red mesh to add dimension and flare. Then to finish it off I found huge red and gold ornaments from Home Depot to put in-between all the garland and then put smaller ornaments  all around the bigger ones.  I had some other  garnish from my Christmas tree box that I stuffed into the garland to add some extra bling and delight to the arrangement. What do you guys think of this new look for my staircase? Personally I am in love with the new style I did this year.

You have to really mold and push up the red mesh in order to create a bubble like effect and lightly lay over the gold garnish on top. I twisted it through each opening of the stairway so it stays all connected.

One of my favorite parts of the house is my Christmas Tree…..IMG_1334 (1)

It just makes me happy and smile every time I walk down the stairs into my living room. It is just the right size, and this year I added the decsending bows on the front that say Merry Christmas and the big red net like ribbonl on the sides of the tree. I even made a big bow at the top myself out of the same materials I purchased. All those ribbons are from Shinoda Design Center.  I then put all the different Red and Gold ornaments and poinsettia’s I got from Michaels to make the tree sparkle. I then sprinkle some blinged out gifts and boxes below the tree before all the real presents arrive from Santa.

Of course I have the stocking hung above the fireplace and this year I got and S and G initial stockings from Target …..Now with my cup of hot coco and a warm blanket I cuddle up next to the fireplace and am in my Happy Place.

Last but not least I love to have a fun and festive table, so naturally I decked it out with pieces from my new Home Accents line Sparkles that is now available on my site www.shopgretchenchristine.comDSC09953

This year we went to our friend’s painting party and Slade made this beautiful wreath picture…..so I have this hung on our walls.  It’s a beautiful personalized touch in our home.IMG_1202

Well that is it for a quick home tour of what I do for the Holidays to make our home festive. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas from our house to yours!
